Enduring Love

“Enduring Love”
is inspired by the Eskimo proverb: “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.” This ambiguous approach shows stars shooting through the patches of a Masai Giraffe travelling through Tanzania. The patches represent rooms for Babu healers to perform therapies, similar to a hospital, and the stars illuminate the room with ancestral love.

In Tanzania, village Babus (traditional African healers and professional herbalists in Tanzania) often report being visited by ancestors or spirits in dreams who reveal medicinal recipes. This piece has a lot of personal meaning to me, the inclusion of stars is inspired by the Eskimo proverb about stars and loved ones: “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.”
